I’m not an expert on, well, anything really, but I’m really not an expert on analog vacuum tube electronics, but it feels plausible to me that you could produce a longer-lived color phosphor, and a shadow mask technology wherein only one colored electron beam is active for each field. It should still produce a decent picture. (Eventually, you could use an LCD! “JVC LCD CRT” is a fun search term.)
